Like the idea of fishing in a European-wide, length-based pike fishing competition? Well, registration for the 2nd annual European Pike Masters is now open!

The European Pike Masters (EPM) is the brainchild of Swedish angler Daniel Lövstedt and is pretty unique in that participants can fish for pike wherever they like, however they like in any water across Europe. Anglers can fish solo or in a team of 2-3 people. With a modern catch-measure-photo-release policy, the event is decided on the total length of the 5 longest pike. To give you an idea of what is needed to win such a challenging competition, the inaugural EPM took place last year, with the top 3 teams all catching over 550cm total length of pike (think: five good twenty pounders😉). The winning team, the Austrian Pike Foundation due of Andreas Ausserer & Christian Wolstermayer, landed the longest pike at a whopping 130cm with a total of 593cm!

In its first year, 331 anglers from 143 teams in 18 countries fished the EPM 2019 and there are hopes for nearer to 300 teams for this years event. This really seems to be a concept that will grow and grow as time passes.

Registration for this highly anticipated event is now open (until September 11th) with qualifying running from September 12th until November 1st. Registered teams will be randomly assigned to fish against groups from across Europe to qualify for the final, which will be fished on November 7th and 8th – remember you can fish wherever you want and there is no limit to the number of venue (or countries) you fish in! Live scores will be made available on the EPM site throughout the competition. There are some great prizes up for grabs including a Ursuit drysuit, a €3000 tackle voucher, top custom clothing and shed load of lures from big name sponsors like Savage Gear, CWC, Strike Pro, Daiwa, Sportfish Tackle, BFT and more.

Registration costs €35 per person. You can register and find out about all the rules and frequently asked questions on the EPM site here: https://europeanpikemasters.com/
